FMS Bar and Restaurant ..the last day ??

February 29th 2008 was the last day for the FMS bar and restaurant.....as we know it..it will be closed for the next 3 month for renovations...will it be the same ...well?? ...but for those that have walked through its "bat-wing " doors on many an occasion ..well we all dropped in for that "one for the road" nostalgia drink...and also to wish nephew another 'cheery hello'.....

i took this shot from nephews side of the bar.........with the regulars giving a cheer!..

..other regulars taking photos with nephew and the waitresses Florence and Iris....

even the press was there for that last shot of the FMS team....yep i'm gonna miss that heritage long bar....i still have memories of friends and relatives that would take a taxi from KLIA directly to the FMS first and i would have to pick them up from there after work...obviously we would have had a few rounds before checking in to the hotel or going home...

..one for the road??".......

nephew signing off ......heres wishing Nephew, Florence and Iris..all the best

cheers!

the Christian Way.....will help you make the right choice...

I just read Mr Smiths blog....'See evil, hear evil but speak the truth"...dated 29Feb 08.....it is so good i must share it with everyone.....

......"As a Christian, should we be more concerned about Truth, Freedom, Justice, good governance, honesty and righteousness than bread and butter issues or clogged drains and tarred roads?.

Shouldn’t a Christian stand up for the poor, the oppressed and the marginalized. (Please read Matthew 6)."

Please read more here ...http://mrsmith2.blogspot.com/

..well i am a Christian....and i will be practicing my rights the Christian way...very well put Mr Smith ..thank you...

Lim Guan Eng came in from Beruas at 11pm...and he fired away

..Guan Eng cracked this joke about the judiciary..."Chua Soi Lek should have hired Lingam to defend him..looks like me , sounds like me, performs like me...but...then he could carry on as the Health Minister..." the crowd laughs and claps.....

..the crowd listening intently...

..1st class seating ...open the van door and listen....

..while Guan Eng was talking Wong went round shaking hands with the supporters....

DAP's Manifesto........

Just read a summary of DAP's Election Manifesto......posting it as an easy reference for interested readers....the local dailies seem to only report negative aspects about the opposition...doesn't sound balanced....i like the part about "implementation of local government elections.." under democracy & freedom......can this lead to a cleaner Ipoh City??

cheers

Meeting DAP's Perak Team.....24th Feb 08

Really ..this is the 1st time ever i've made an effort to attend a ceramah...and i was so so very early...this was the Chin Woo hall at 630pm yesterday evening...there was a DAP team that had just put up the flags , wired the outer speakers and so on...in the hall was just one elderly lady at the door...

..so i took a walk..( see earlier post) and later...around 730pm.... a bit more audience now..alot of the crowd that walked in looked like they just came in after dinner...mostly mid 40'ish++..no yuppie types nor younger ones...generally mostly senior....."been thru the hard times" type...mostly chinese..didn't notice any malays...smattering of Indian...

..@ 745pm..this guy shows up..selling newspapers and 'mar piew' .. he was sold out within 5 minutes...great sales strategy..

..then this distinguished gentleman M.Kula shows up..... the speeches start soon after ..the candidate from Buntong , Canning , Tronoh ........and the other DAP Perak candidates ..

.. a short while later...Fong Po Kuan arrives...i like this lady...young ...great oratory skills...literally chased Ong Ka Chuan out of BG....& her opinion of "abdullah badawi..he does not work at all...." and the audience applauses...i'm glad she changed her mind...mind you she looked pretty tired to me (pls don't enlarge the photos)....so there is alot of dedication involved here....

..well there is no free lunch ..or show........

by now the hall is packed.....@ 9pm...'Uncle Lim ' arrives....everybody stands up and wants to shake his hand...

..with Uncle Lim on the microphone..inside the packed hall...

..outside the hall.....taken from the NSTP office....

..audience outside viewing Uncle Lim 'live'....

..Uncle Lims's speech last night has today been posted on his website....Overall the turnout was good..however i feel it could be a lot better if the opposition is given more newspaper media coverage..

...well ..lets think about that and make the right choice when the time comes.

cheers!

Election time @ the Kinta Valley...let the campaign begin....

I went over to the Chin Woo hall to check out "Uncle Lim" and the DAP ceramah yesterday evening...it was an easy Sunday...i was very early..the ceramah was at 730...i was there by 645.... ....so i took a walk along the side road next to the hall to watch the football game at PCRC (Perak Chinese Recreation Club ) field....this is what i saw...the PCRC hall is the MCA operations centre.....the Barisan flags were over the road next to the temple...anyway it was a nice shot against the evening sun...the majority of the voters in the Kinta Valley are chinese and this scene looked appropriate ...

..the PCRC hall on the left..the temple next to it...nice setting here....

..PCRC hall....

PCRC team having a game....nice evening yesterday.....

..the DAP operations centre at 1045 last night...its located on Jalan Kampar at the intersection of Jalan Pasir Pinji and Jalan Tow Boo Keong.....the ceramah at Chin Woo hall was still going on...

...so the campaign has begun.....cheers !!!

"Ipoh's Garbage Crisis...a pending disaster "

Ipoh is not clean anymore. There are 'private dumpsites' everywhere...20,000 illegal dumsites in the city" .... wow i did not realise it was that bad..and I always thought my fellow residents had bad habits and a poor attitude .......well i was so wrong..sorry guys ...however ... MBI is not helping the situation one bit when 50% of its dumpsters are out of action!!!!!! ....

I have pasted this expose from the Ipoh Echo ( an Ipoh community newspaper) for all Ipoh citizens (local and virtual) to be aware of the shocking mismanagement of this important service.
(please click on the photographs to enlarge them..thank you)

Please also note that the Echo's photographer was prevented from taking photographs for this story.....must be a "top secret" guilty conscience .......

yohooooo..excuse me Mr Mayor sir......ehhh wazzup doc ??...... can we ( ipoh residents) see an action plan / solution to this....err..mess...immediately...please ........thank you.
