The Buddhist temples of Tambun......

I first saw this structure during chinese new year this year on a forum. It was located in the Tambun area.. I took a drive onto the Tambun to Ampang road entering from Tambun town. About a kilometer on i took a left turn into the hills....in case you are wondering this part of Tambun is mostly Pomelo country...

Another kilometer in... this is what i saw.Nice huh!...I had to get the sunlight shining down ...What struck me was the silhouette of the statues against the hilly backdrop...pomelo orchard in the foreground...is this Ipoh?...it looked like a set for shaolin movie.... ..i drove slowly...thru the trees...
...a golden pond before the destination!....

..as i got nearer.....
..straight on ahead was the temple....
..i parked my car ...i could see the flats along the Tambun/ Ampang road ....
..at the entrance ..prayer wheels... i never saw these in the other Buddhist temples......reminded me of the temples in Tibet...
...these deities have a Hindu influence...is this a Buddhist temple?....
...the entrance opens to this hall.....
..to the right of the hall.....

..went to the side of the the temple.......
it opened out to the side road....the statue of Buddha looked like it was part of another temple.....

..to the left of the hall there were more prayer wheels....
..leading here.....
..blending in with the enviroment.....

.. i went to the back of the temple...
..when i left i checked the signboards at the entrance .... looks like they were different temples

...2 months later ..on a bright & sunny evening on the rooftop of Jaya Jusco i looked towards Tambun and saw these structures....wow it was that tall and it stood out against the foothills ...how lovely...

Kampung House @ Kg Kepayang,Ipoh

I was driving along the stadium road towards Fair Park when i thought i'd check out Kg Kepayang.Its right in the heart of town.The houses here are quaint and cozy like most of the kampungs.
Then i came along this house that had a good mix and match of plants and flowers which caught my attention.It reminded me of how my neighbourhood looked those days.

This is the flower bed along the road in front of the house.I stopped to check it out.Flowers growing wild and blending in beautifully with the undergrowth behind.This was interesting.
Even the chameleon on the pole was enjoying the view.
The driveway to the house was also well planned out. The compound was tidy and the flower beds were neat.This had to be the best planned garden in the kampung.Everything was in its place.

...cats tails...think thats what its called .. geez i haven't seen this plant in years.
Coming across a kampung house like this has been very pleasant.

the Land Rovers of Cameron Highlands......

Yeah yeah..i can hear it from here...Cameron Highlands is not part of the Kinta Valley..its not even in Perak...But don't forget that the way to Camerons is thru Perak ie Tapah those days and now via Simpang Pulai.

Anyway i want to hilite about that super workhorse and great 4WD ie the Land Rovers of Cameron Highlands.I took these shots about a year back.These are not the newer models instead these are the old models of years gone by still going strong.These beauties are still carrying the produce from the farms to their destinations.
Thats how they do the transfers.
I'd be following behind one of these 4WDs fully laden when suddenly it would overtake the car in front of it and pull away to disappear around a bend.Some looked like it was tilting when they took a bend due to the height but i would see it down the road later unloading to a waiting lorry.

At the end of the day you will see these 4WDs parked along the road. One tyre in the drain at the side of the road.
A whole string of them. What an interesting scene.Nothing really glamourous just effective and functional machines.

Thats what a load normally looks like.There might be the Jap pick-ups around but i'm sure the Land Rovers will be around for quite awhile yet.

A drive in the valley - Gopeng / Kota Bahru area

It rained this morning.When the rain cleared the sky was a little dim but clear. I thought i'd take a drive thru the valley. I headed towards Gopeng but turned off before Gopeng town at the Puspakom area.

I came to this laterite road. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to come here after a rain. Then i saw this iguana slowly crossing the road. I took this shot thru the windscreen.When i got out of the car for a closer shot it scooted off into the bushes.....I carried on...and saw this guy standing on top of this sand bund looking down to a tractor...with the blue hills in the background it looked like he was standing in the center of the valley...and so was i....
..as i left i saw this view in my rear mirror...red laterite road, muddy steam , a pump that looked like a palong and grass trying hard to grow..and the blue hills in the background...lovely
..these 2 pillars and a nice gate reminded me of the tv series those days called High Chapparal..with the nice fencing i guess that someone is rearing cows or goats......
...any horses around...i saw a land rover under the trees over yonder.....
..driving on i came across these cows relaxing on this quiet road....i had to practise my rallying technique trying to avoid these patches of cow dung.....

...a disused mining pond...this one was huge....
..i saw this government college near to the Kota Bahru road. I didn't see a signboard so i don't know its name. I later learnt that the campus is huge and has three canteens....the view from here is very nice....
