MB Inc Seals Collaboration to Conserve TT5 (Ipoh Echo 5 March 2022)

Menteri Besar Incorporated (MB Inc) via its subsidiary, TT5 Sdn Bhd, strengthens its efforts to preserve and conserve the Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge No.5 (TT5).

Recently, MB Inc established a collaboration with ACF Industries (M) Sdn Bhd, a marine engineering company, to carry out the initiative.

This collaboration is set to provide services to restore, renew and carry out maintenance work on the 83-year-old TT5 that is located at a former tin mining site in Tanjung Tualang, Perak.

The initiative to preserve the tin dredge, which is a heritage site that is part of the Kinta Valley National Geopark, began with an early conference.

The collaboration was sealed by the CEO of MB Inc, Anuar Zainal Abidin, and Head of Operations of ACF Industries, Hamly Mohd Salleh, and witnessed by the manager of Amanjaya TT5 Sdn Bhd, Shahrin Zainon.

Among other initiatives, the two parties will work closely with marine engineering industries and faculties for the purpose of research, drafting of standard operating procedure (SOP) documentations, as well as conservation.

It also includes recording the rectification and maintenance process of the tin dredge.

The recording of the processes will be serialised and it is hoped that they can be used as references for research centres or even schools.

This is because the TT5 is the only tin dredge that still exists, therefore it is important to monitor it closely so that it will continue to be preserved and become a national heritage.

Can MBI Do Better Now ......

At Canning Gardens ... Woods Avenue
This has been going since “a long time ago” so HARAP-an if the new government can innovate a PERMANENT SOLUTION to the problem.

....a drain used to be here.
Grass uncleared for months, drains overgrown and becoming a ‘swamp’ and sidewalks overgrown with weeds.

...below is a drain...taken from Jalan Chow Kai

... this is a side walk
These photos were taken in Canning Gardens on the weekend. Where are the contractors or is it MBI staff who are supposed to clear once per forth night.

Is there a garden waste plan or is this still under discussion.

This is Canning Garden literally almost under the nose of MBI.

Can we get the Council to do a tidying up immediately and keep it tidy thereafter ?

Once Upon A Time – Indian Kueh Seller

This photo was taken early in the 1980’s of the Indian Kueh seller. Interestingly he sold ‘nyona kueh’ as well as the fried popiah.

The pushcart had replaced the carrying pole of the time. Noted too he had a stove at the back though I did not think of checking it out then. Could he have been selling mee rebus.

He must had wondered why I wanted to photograph him cause he had a real steely look about him.

No doubt his life was a tough one. But looking back I am glad I took the shot cause I don’t see these hawkers any more.

The Durian Festival of 2008

Vibrant batik colours and local fruits add to the beauty of Perak
The Durian Festival held at Bukit Gantang,Perak in 2008 was more than a festival.

It was a Tourism Malaysia event and Azalina Othman was its Tourism Minister while Tajol Rosli the Chief Minister of Perak then.

Over 20,000 fruits were brought in
The durian was the attraction with over 20,000 durians brought in but it showcased more of the culture of Perak and possibly of the wonderful community spirit at Bukit Gantang then.

A relaxing morning at Bukit Gantang
On Call....the durian opener

It was the culture of Perak with vibrant colours of the dancers and the accompanying performance, so energetic with smiles of total enjoyment.

Colorful dancers .....
...tantalizing....
..... frolicking in fun ....

and totally captivating....

The silat display with accompanying music, the durian by-product delicacies and the lunch following the event all added to a delightful weekend.

.... martial arts and accompanying cultural music .....

...a community that work as one .......

The lunch..local fruit, roti jala, rendang tok .....gastronomic

It was a gastronomic delight and then more because it showcased Perak’s rich and wonderful culture.
