Happy New Year 2008........the lunch was terrific.......

Happy New Year 2008 everybody.....yes there was so much to read on the 2nd day of this new year...most of it scandal though....anyway my story is more desirable.....1st things first...my new years card ..taken on a tree at the rest area going north between Jelapang Toll and before the tunnel...the flowers were in full full bloom on most of the trees....makes a great card...bright and cheery....

..our family's new year lunch....all home made and pot luck....the spread at the family table...

..babi asam...made using pig trotters , serai, fresh chillies, etc..... scrumptously yummy.....

.....beer soaked gammon ham.....

...home made birthday cake....mocha tart....

...all the dishes were so so delicious it was ecstatically gastronomic.....thank goodness new years is 1x per year....i feel so heated up now...1 day later......but it was worth it....

happy new year to one and all....

ps: it was a very busy december month....and i got some great shots to share...coming...the 100 years old Gopeng Pipeline and my "easy drive" trip to Langkawi.....

My 1st Christmas on the blog.....

Guess there is always a 1st time for everything...this is my first christmas blog. Just 2 days away so i'd better get the house ready....managed to get a box of poinsettas from Cameron Highlands..so i'd better finish the house decorations.....

..how to upgrade your porch for christmas.....


..even the fish pond can be touched up.....

...well the tree is done.....

bought the turkey this morning....and is now defrosting.......

so the house is ready.....trees up..now just waiting for baby Jesus to arrive....

Ipoh Padang....then and currently

On any morning when you take your morning walk around Ipoh Padang right in the heart of town you cannot fail to notice these MBI workers erecting the poles for the next sporting game to be held at the coming weekend.

its a convenient setup as the store for all these games apparatus is right next to the padang.

..by 8am poles up ..and the flag too.....

this is the last event that plowed the padang!!..the launching of wireless services...

what i can't understand was that the MBI office was nearby but somehow no preventive measures were forthcoming. Considering there have been so many big events held at this premier padang i'm surprised it happened.

Hopefully the repairs won't cost a bomb..and we can get back our Ipoh Padang asap.

Poon Choy .....the unity dish

Recently I was invited to my friend's parents 50th wedding anniversary. The menu had only one dish and it was called Poon Choy.It was huge round basin with loads of delicious food..like prawns, 2 types of abalone, oyster, braised pork, broccoli , sea cucumber, mushrooms and a few more. For a table of 12 it was alot.

I arranged the ingredients for you to have an idea how delicious was the dish.

The significance of the dish was that of a family coming together and all sharing a meal from one big pot...resembling unity and happiness as one big family. It was truly a wonderful meal.
