Guan Yin ( Goddess of Mercy) Temple on the Kinta River.

This is the Guan Yin Temple located on the banks of the Kinta River...It sits next to the Jln Sultan Idris Shah (Brewster Road) bridge and is the second oldest temple in Ipoh.

Somehow there are several temples and mosques situated along the banks of the Kinta River. Pls note #42 is this Guan Yin Temple while #54 is the Paloh Ku Miu which i had posted earlier. At a later date i will also post about Masjid Dato Panglima Kinta and Masjid Kg Paloh both of which are also located downriver within 2km from here.
The entrance to the temple. Some renovation work is going on currently.

At the front door....

Outside looking in....
..at the outer altar..

..the inner altar....
This bell came from China in the year 1878.
A view of the temple from across the river. It would be nice if the authorities could find a way to tidy up the area and erect a heritage poster hiliting the age of the temple, the bell etc etc so it can be another tourist attraction along the river.
Actually the temple looks very scenic along the river.Having done all of the above it might be a good idea to resite these bill boards so that people passing by can have an uninterrupted view of the temple by the river.

cheers!
