Holy week has so much of history.....like the Last Supper...while Jesus is having his meal with the disciples he says that he will be betrayed by one of his disciples who is sitting at the table...
...then ...he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, wrapped a towel around his waist. , poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet ..those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” .. For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.
Holy Thursday is notable for being the day to bring in the Holy Oils from the Chrism Mass: .....
.....which consists of chrism oil, oil of the sick and oil of catechumens.....The oil of the catechumens and chrism are to be used on the coming Holy Saturday at the Easter Vigil for the baptism and confirmation of those entering the Church.
The Holy Oils are blessed by the Bishop in an elaborate ceremony attended by Churches throughout the Diocese (below is a ceremony held last year at St Josephs's Church Batu Gajah)
The service concludes with a procession taking the Blessed Sacrament to the place of reposition
...At the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus prays ....awaiting to be betrayed and taken away by the soldiers ...Jesus's asks his disciples Peter, James and John to stay awake with him but they fall asleep...
