It was Classic all right and Heritage too .... |
Classic bikes against a heritage backdrop...a matching blend..... |
I love bikes...spent my younger days on one...and the Kinta Valley was a great place to own a bike....well nostalgia came home last week in the form of a classic bike festival.
..organised by this club..The 'Ipoh British Classic Bike Club Perak ...(didn't know there was one that existed but was certainly grateful).
It was a beautiful weekend held over two days .... there were so many of them along Jalan Sultan Abdul Jalil.....Triumphs, Norton ..a rare Indian (with a BSA gearbox!? Indian is American), loads of AJS , BMW its not British but i'll allow it, Royal Enfield..even Francis Barnett was there
A rare Indian but that ...... |
..that power came from an English BSA .. note the hand gear shift ,..thats Indian |
that's a magneto out front ..how basic |
how interesting |
...BSA's.....
..AJS....most of them were 350's...
...Royal Enfield's...feeling the nostalgia yet??...
..it ain't British but it's a classic..Mr Choo from KL with his 1951 BMW 750cc..yes he rode it down from KL...
a similar model with the sidecar.....lovely shade of green....
..Nortons..was it called the Dominator???
..Darshan..from Malacca......
..Matchless.....alot of the bikes were shades of army green....
..Mr Gandhi..astride his 1920 Triumph Model H...
single cyclinder, 3 speed and...belt driven....
..and it runs pretty well too...Mr Gandhi...after Batu Gajah....
..Ivan ( the gwai lo in the green shirt) next to his AJS 350..he rode up from Kuantan..via KT , Tasik Kenyir and Gua Musang...Cameron Highlands and down to Ipoh..." no problem at all.(scenic ride).."note the number plate..he bought it from Ipoh....
..Triumph bikers..dressed to ride...
..Easy Rider......
..Mr Ong with his Sunbeam...
...getting ready at the Railway Station Hotel...and dressed for a morning ride....
to Batu Gajah
......parked for lunch at Kellies Castle.....
man. i tell ya..Ipoh and Kinta has got so so many heritage sites its like a ride back in time....
..anyway back to the present...there are bikes and then some more bikes.super, moped, classic??...
I hope they make this a regular event...and then i saw this 'kacang puteh' guy and it brought me back to reality
cheers!
