Ramadhan is over.....Selamat Hari Raya all...

The fasting month is over...so are all the stalls that used to converge at Perak Stadium where i would pick up my Ramadan dinner when the mood grabbed me. No i don't break fast...its just the time of year when us non-muslims partake of the ramadhan culture..and why not...its on my way home....

below..this would be the main course...but not for me.....

...appetisers...my better half prefers these....

....though i prefer these...goes with my sundowners....

..especially this bar-b- q'd chicken......

..by far this is the family favourite....the grilled fish....

..there is always a good variety..........

....quite like their cincaroe...however i like it well done...so when i take it home
i put them in the oven toaster a while longer...depending on the stall i add in extra sambal for that oomph!!....

...a refreshing drink...and this year i came across a stall that had really really good egg caramel....i'm going to miss this ....

..well for the next 11 months or so.....

...for today i'm going out for lunch to have serunding, lemang and rendang.

Selamat Hari Raya...you.all..... yep life is good in my home town...lets make it better!!!

SSS....Support, Sympathy and Solidarity the DAP way.

The date was Thursday 18th September. Teresa Kok was still under detention.Friends had been sms'ing me of an anti-ISA / free Teresa Kok activity that was to be held at 8am at the Pasir Pinji market. I thought i'd check it out before i went in to work.

..this is the Pasir Pinji market...old style still but functional....time: 8.05am

on the road outside the market...traders going about their business...

..Malaysian democracy at work !!

inside the market ......ornamental fish and 'designer' shoes????(click on photos to enlarge)

..veggies of all varieties..........

..having breakfast!!

..bargaining .....

..'chee cheong fun' anyone

..the fish section.....

time: 8.18am ....the boys from the DAP .... walking in..

..followed by Uncle Lim and the team......

...an easy morning ...start for the day....

..the team sets up their "awareness" location at the entrance for passer's by going to work...supporters honk as they pass by......

...the speeches start.......it is all in chinese........

..on the microphone Wong Kah Woh..the assemblyman for Canning....

..Thomas Su, the assemblyman for Pasir Pinji. His service center is just a block away from the market.

..Hee Yit Foong..assemblywoman for Jelapang...

..afterwards...Uncle Lim does a walkabout the market presenting roses to the traders...while party members hand out ISA pamphlets.....

..".in solidarity let us show support for the abolishment of ISA".....the walkabout is over around 915am....

...I heard that Uncle Lim had an appointment with Perak MB Nizar at 11am to initiate another anti-ISA program....

At night at 8pm that same day...a candle light vigil was organized by the assembly man for Canning Wong Kah Woh...at Ipoh Garden East....I received my sms around 3pm ...i checked it out after my dinner....time:8.15pm..there was a speaker but the crowd was sparse...

before 830 pmUncle Lim arrives together with Teresa's parents.....

..these young children were on hand to present roses to Teresa's parents.

..roses for Teresa's mum.....

..party worker getting ready to hand out candles.....

..Wong Kah Woh ... addressing the crowd ..time: around 845pm..the crowd was growing.."i am very pleased to see a large crowd...i started sending out sms's at 1pm...and the turnout tonight is good" said assemblyman Wong. For the record i myself received 2 sms's from 2 different individuals. That should be a measure of solidarity for this cause.

the candle light vigil......

..party support...(left to right)..the assemblymen from Kepayang, Canning, Pinji and Tebing Tinggi together with Uncle Lim and Teresa's parents.

..in solidarity and support...release Teresa..abolish the ISA.....

..as we all know by now..Teresa Kok was released the next day ... I am quoting the words posted by Uncle Lim from his blog (note the word wangled..old school english? )
__________________________________________
At 12.56 pm, at lunch in Ipoh, my mobile phone rang. I saw the caller was “Teresa”
and wondered who was using her phone. But it was her on the line and wondered how she wangled the use of her phone while in detention. But no, she did no such improper thing. She told me that she was being released. Bravo. The irresistible pressures
against her unjust and undemocratic detention had succeeded.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bravo indeed. Uncle Lim and the DAP Ipoh teams' efforts- 3 activities in one day are most commendable. If this is not "walking the talk"..I don't know what is. Excellent effort in canvassing support for a most noble cause. The roadshows and candlelight vigils organized by political parties, NGO's and churches has helped expedite the release of the innocent detainees. Lets not forget that RPK is still inside.

But we need to ask ourselves why was Tan Chee Hoon and Teresa Kok detained in the first place. Both of them were glaringly innocent. Especially Teresa Kok, a public figure. She has her blog and is an MP.
She stands up for the community irrespective of race or culture. Zaid Ibrahim declared that she is a good citizen. Before her detention the mosque official declared she was not involved in the azan issue. YET!!! she was still detained and under the ISA too. There are so many laws available yet they throw the ISA at her...Abuse of the Powers at their whim and fancy ?????....most certainly...so should we abolish the ISA...even more certainly...
